Nigeria Seeks Approval for a $21.7 Billion External Borrowing Plan
On 27 October 2026, President Bola Tinubu sought National Assembly approval for a supplementary external borrowing plan of approximately $21.7 billion, comprising $20.52 billion and €1.05 billion, for the 2026–2027 period. The proposed financing is intended to support infrastructure and other projects; it remains subject to legislative approval and should not be treated as funds already received or spent.
