Canadian Education Funding Practices Face Regulatory Scrutiny
A report published during the week described scrutiny of private-college recruitment and student-aid practices in Ontario, including concerns involving institutions previously receiving public student assistance. The report stated that the colleges received more than $274 million in OSAP grants during the 2024–25 academic year before being deemed ineligible for the programme.
Education providers and recruitment companies may need stronger compliance reviews, documentation and governance controls. The $274 million figure relates to historical student-aid grants, not a legal-services contract or a newly awarded amount.
